This is the view of the surf from the point at the far south end of the beach. Our water sport of choice is body-surfing. The best spot is north of this area about 1/4 of a mile. We learned that the worst spot to swim is in front of the lifeguard. The lifeguard perches are placed in the spot where the rip current goes out so they can see the people being swept out. There were many days of lesser current when we could easily body surf in fun waves at a depth where you could just touch the sand during a low point in the wave cycle. Once you catch a good wave yer hooked to get the next one, so it's hard to go home. The best time is from an hour before sunset to an hour after sunset.

Nurse Deb,
ReplyDeleteIn Guatemala, you should go to Chichicastenango Market.
The best time to go is when the native people are having their tri-annual day celebration. They celebrate Saint Thomas day and wear their native dress and have a huge parade. In the market, they’re lots of new foods to try and all kinds of things to see. Chichicastenango Market is a great place to go when you want to shop and try new things.
Happy Travels,
Sarah
