Go south flung man - on to San Cristobal de las Casas

View Puerto Escondido to San Cristobal de las Casas in a larger map
This is an interactive map.  Check out details at each end and/or change to aerial photo if you are curious.

It's Monday morning (Feb 21) we just arrived in San Cristobal de las Casas from Puerto Escondido in an overnight 12 hour bus ride. We feel pretty good. No one woke us up. So I think that the windy road was in sync with our breathing and our fellow passengers must have mistook our snoring cacophony as a woggedy bus wheel.
This is a charming town at 7000 ft elevation. We are looking forward to touring nearby indigenous villages, archeological ruins (palenque), and tropical waterfalls to swim in.

  1. Do not go to Germany during Christmas time cause the Germans have a holiday called Krumpas. What is Krumpas? Well it’s a holiday where you go to this festival. Scary wooden masked guys beat you up… then when you go home there are presents and candy on your porch. On a average there are a lot of injuries including, broken bones, bruises, concussions and deaths.

    Jared, have a great vacation!

  4. Dear nurse Deb,

    When your in Guatemala…

The foods you should try are… Lots of people in Guatemala eat lots of tortillas. Some typical foods are black beans, bananas and rice. They also eat there bananas with honey or cream. Chicken, turkey and beef are the most popular foods in Guatemala. The most popular snack is doughnuts . Other popular dishes are fresh fruit and vegetables.

    Great beaches are…

Monterrico, In Guatemala pacific coast is the most popular beach and they have volcanic sand, strong current also, rarely ever crowded. On the pacific side there is a friendly swim and awesome snorkeling

    Sincerely,

    Drew

  5. IRELAND

There are many fun things to do when in Ireland. They have also a somewhat still functional castle which if your lucky, you can kiss a stone for good luck. There’s also going on hikes near the villages, tours in the castle, and animal watching. When in Irelands fine kingdom, spend 7 days in the heart of Irelands kingdom of county Kerry. Enjoy this relaxed vacation or explore the wonders of killarney, the ring of Kerry and west cook.

    THAT IS IRELAND!!!

  6. When you are in Argentina you should go watch polo or soccer. I think that you should watch polo because it’s played a lot differently then other sports. The polo fields area is about nine football fields put together.
    It’s very entertaining to watch!
You should also go watch soccer.
They play soccer a lot so there is a big chance you will be able to watch it, they play in their free time and they watch others play. In Argentina there’s more soccer fields than other places you go to. At one of the soccer fields there’s a restaurant that has a sandwich named after all the soccer players that play in Argentina.

  7. You should go to Nicaragua in April for their holidays, like Holy Thursday and Army Day.

Holy Thursday is when they celebrate the first day of March.
And Army Day is the Friday fallowing after Holy Thursday to celebrate nationally.

They do lots of festivals ,they have re-enactments of the passion of christ, and religious street paintings.

The average temp. in March is about 81 degrees and the high temp. is 91 degrees. The low temp is 70 degrees. So you really don’t have to cover up.
