Corn Islands (Nicaragua)

The Nicaraguan islands, Great Corn and Little Corn,  just made it onto our itinerary.
They are in the Caribbean and are the real deal, where lobster is a staple and work-a-day stress is a forgotten concept.  Little Corn has no electricity, no cars, and gorgeous white-sand beaches framed by boulders, driftwood, and coconut groves. Great Corn is 5 km long by 1-1/2 km wide.  Little Corn is only 3 km long by tiny wide.

Both Islands have excellent snorkeling, with over 40 species of coral and migrating hammerhead sharks.  We'll be sticking to the beaches as the hill in the center has ticks.  I'd rather face the sharks than the ticks.

  1. This looks tasty. Looks similar to life in the smaller villages of the Belizan coast. which is excellent. so I think Mara and I are in for it. The fights to Managua look painful, but we'll have to make do. Early March. awesome.
