This is the bicycle shop where we bought our bike. The other bike we use belongs to the school. We will give our bike to the school when we leave in trade for the use of their bike while we're here.
This is the repair shop area of the bicycle store. They had to repair the school's bike so we could use it. The sand and salt are into all the gears and chains around here.
These are the fast riders that use the newly reconditioned bicycles. We have ridden from our hood at the point, to the other end of town called the Rinconada a couple of times. This is only about a five mile ride but takes us an hour. We have to do a little route finding then cross a dry riverbed (walking through sand) then ride through the nice area of the zicatela, then walk through more sandy beach to avoid the highway with not enough room for bikes, and one more walk up a steep hill on the way. The reward is the beautiful playa carrizallio that is shown in a previous video post. This area is also a nice part of town that has good restaurants and shops. All the more comfortable expats hang out at the rinconada. The more adventurous expats are near our house out at the point. There are lots of Australians, Canadians, and Germans here.
